South Arcade Speedway Championship Final Night on Tap August 27

By Charlie Langlois

Delevan, N.Y. – The final race of the 2011 season will take place at South Arcade Speedway as Championship night speeds into action on Saturday August 27. Come out and witness fun and exciting auto racing on the area’s fastest 1/3 mile clay oval.
Championship night will be highlighted by the first annual $500 to win Street Stock Shootout featuring the Schwab Aggregates Street Stocks. They will be joined on the five star division card by the Pangrazio-Mac Tools E-Mods, Arcade Tractor Supply Company Pure Stocks, the D&H Mini Horse Pull Team 4 Cylinder Mini Stocks and the Lauterborn Electric Enduro. The feature winner in the Enduro will receive a guaranteed spot in the Black Rock Speedway Big One $10,000 to Win Event in November.
The Street Stock Shootout will be 25 laps in distance. Starting positions will be determined by a Draw, Re-Draw format.  Kurt Miller of Kurt’s Firewood has sponsored all 25 circuits at $10 per lap and Andy Eastman Racing had doubled down on laps 10 and 20.  The speedway is looking for more $10 per lap sponsors and you can choose any lap. The top three across the line each time will share in the lap money. The purse is located at www.southaracdespeedway.com.
The closest point battle is in the Schwab Aggregates Street Stocks where Andy Michael holds a slim 2 point lead over Josh Wilcox and a 32 point lead over Dan Giboo. Wilcox has three wins on the year and Michael has two. With 12 points to the winner of a qualifying heat and 60 points to capture the main event, the Street Stock championship is up for grabs and will probably come down to the last lap of the Street Stock Shootout.
Other point championships are also on the line. Four time winner Curt Pastorius has a 19 point lead on Fred Ely in the Arcade Tractor Supply Company Pure Stocks. Steve Mowery with two tally's is up 37 markers on Riley Ellison in the D&H Mini Horse Pull Team 4 Cylinder Mini Stocks. Vic Vena has four victories and is 50 points ahead of defending champion Carl Ballinger in the Pangrazio-Mac Tools E-Mods.

South Arcade Speedway Releases Official Schedule, Sets Practice Dates
by Charlie Langlois
Delevan, N.Y. 3/23/2011 -  The 2011 schedule for South Arcade Speedway highlights big changes at the 1/3 mile Cattaraugus County oval and features a six race schedule on a new night of racing.
Doors will open for two free to the public practice sessions at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday May 7 and May 14.  The 2011 season kicks off the following week on May 21 at 6.00 p.m. with a five-star division card including the Fastrak Late Models, Pangrazio-Mac Tools E-Mods, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks and the D&H Mini Horse Pull Team 4 Cylinder Mini Stocks.
Promoter Mike Lauterborn took control of South Arcade Speedway in 2010 and maintained the traditional Friday night format. After extensive consideration, a change to Saturday night for 2011 was adopted.  Lauterborn explained the reasons behind the change from Friday to Saturday, “We struggled to get fans in the stands on Friday.  The racing was great and we got a lot of positive feedback from those that saw the races in 2010.  I’d love for people who had attended the track when it was previously known as Freedom Raceway or Arcade International Raceway to come out and see all of the improvements we’ve made.  Also, since many of ours cars compete at McKean County Raceway and Little Valley Speedway, we’ve decided to blend our schedule with theirs to make it easy for the drivers to do the three track deal.”
The six pack of 2011 Saturday races includes the FOAR Score Fan Club, Armed Forces night on May 21, Sixt Lumber night on June 25, Town Of Freedom night on July 9, Wix Filters night on July 23, Nu-Way Sanitation Autograph night on August 6 and the Championship night season finale on August 27.
50 lap Enduros have been scheduled on May 21, July 23, and August 27 with the feature winner each night getting a guaranteed spot in the Black Rock Speedway Big One $10,000 to Win Enduro in November. Registration forms are available at southarcadespeedway.com.
Drivers competing in all classes at South Arcade Speedway will be eligible for over $50,000 in national contingency awards from the Contingency Connection Bonus Programs.
Admission for adults is only $10, seniors (60+) get in for $9, students (10-15) are $5 and kids under 9 are admitted free.

South Arcade Speedway Inks Class and Night Sponsors

By: Steven Petty

DELEVAN, NY… March 10 2011. The South Arcade Speedway announces the signing of D&H Mini Horse Pull Team as the 2011 class sponsor for the 4 Cylinder Mini Stocks at the Delevan, NY 1/3rd mile oval.

Owner Diane Keesler said in a recent interview that she “wanted to sponsor a class up there (at South Arcade) for a few years”.  Keesler got involved at the speedway back when Dan Hoffman ran the facility. “I did everything from cleaning, to painting, to scoring to even being the assistant Tech Inspector up there”, Keesler said. She volunteered her time last year to SAS Owner/Promoter Mike Lauterborn as you can see her work as she painted the buildings around the facility.

She picked the Four Cylinder division to sponsor for a couple of reasons. She said that “one, lots of kids started in that division and they are now running in the Crate Late Models and even the big Late Models as well”. Another reason why she sponsored the class was in gratitude to 4 Cylinder driver Dave Burdick and his family. “Dave and his family were so supportive of me and I wanted to do it for them”, Keesler said. “I like repaying people that supported me”, she continued.  Keesler also said that she would like to set up an appreciation race for this division at some point during the season.

D&H Pull Team has competed in a few competitions over the past three seasons including one on the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. For more information about D&H, you can find them in Yorkshire, NY or contact Fred Wolfer at Wolfer’s Sofa and Chair Outlet on Route 16 (Olean Road) in Yorkshire.

South Arcade Speedway would also like to announce the signing of Sixt Lumber for a race night sponsor on June 25th and Nu-Way Sanitation on August 6th. In a recent interview with Gater News, Pangrazio says that “I love the E-Mod division” gave him a reason to sponsor the division at the South Arcade Speedway. Another reason why he decided to sponsor the class this season is because “I wasn’t sure whether or not Mike (Lauterborn) was running them or not, so I approached him about being the class sponsor and to have the E-Mods back for 2011”.

With the sponsorship comes some awards at the end of the racing season and according to Pangrazio, “J&J Tool Sales will be giving one driver in every division at South Arcade will be receiving a tool bag along with some goodies in it”. “I will have something a little extra as well for the E-Mods but just haven’t determined what yet”. The title of the division will be the Pangrazio-Mac Tools E-Mods.

“The track (South Arcade) is close to home for me” said Pangrazio, who raced in the division for a short time in 2006 at South Arcade. Pangrazio is a fellow racer who started his racing career in 2003 at the Genesee Speedway (now Raceway 5) in the Pro Stocks. He won his first race in the same season just four races into his career. Pangrazio also went on to win Rookie of the Year as well. He stayed in the Pro Stocks for the 2004 campaign as well. He took the entire 2005 and most of the 2006 seasons off but returned late in the ‘06 season to run in the E-Mods at South Arcade. For 2007-2008, he ran in the 360 Late Models at Genesee. He ran a few races in 2009, including the Terry Pangrazio Memorial for the 360 Late Models at Genesee.
